I don’t have the download for Karkat, because he’s custom-made. Well, not truly — I tweaked him and did other things from simstuck — you can find the download there, just click on the download page.

Unfortunately, my John that I tweaked was lost, so I AM using melissassimsblog’s John right now (until I get unlazy and tweak him again). I can’t link you to the page proper, and the download doesn’t exist anymore. I apologize. :/

But, yeah! I really should start hosting some of my sims. I have modified all of the homestuck trolls from simstuck, so.

Mods Tutorial

So, before I begin, I want to let you all know I’ve never made a tutorial before. Ever. Bear with me. :D

For this particular tutorial (on Mods) I chose one of my favorite mods out there: PosePlayer. Believe it or not, it is a mod; it has to run various scripts to get the poses right.

Or… something to that effect.

You can either Google PosePlayer or find it on modthesims.com, another favorite site of mine.

So here it is, in all of its glory. Look at the tabs above the picture; one will say download—click on it.

Scroll down and download the file. Save it wherever you like.

Now, find the file (wherever you saved it—I keep mine in downloads simply for convenience), and unzip it. I use 7zip, but WinRar works just as well.

Make sure to copy the .PACKAGE file and NOT the .RAR, otherwise Sims 3 won’t be able to recognize the file!

Once the PACKAGE file is copied, open up my documents — NOT PROGRAM FILES — and go into your Electronic Arts folder, and then your Sims 3 folder. Find your Mods folder. If you don’t have it, make one.

Inside your Mods, there should be two more folders (Overrides and Packages) and a Resource.cfg. Make sure that all of this is in your folder. If not, you’ll need to download Resource.cfg from Mod the Sims and create Overrides and Packages.

Once inside Packages, right-click and paste (or hit ctrl-V).

Voilà! You should now have PosePlayer (or whatever mod you so chose to have) inside the folder Packages. Double check and make sure it’s in Packages, and not Mods or Overrides.

On a side note: EVERY TIME YOU INSTALL CC YOU WILL NEED TO DELETE CERTAIN CACHE FILES. For a Mod, like PosePlayer, you will need to delete scriptCache; for CC in Create-a-Sim (like clothing, accessories, make-up, ect), you will need to delete CASpartCache; for default (and non-default) skins, you will need to delete simcompositorCache; and for anything in build/buy mode (furniture and things) you will need to delete compositorCache.

These files will refresh at the start of your game, so don’t worry about erasing important files. They can be found in My Documents > Electronic Arts > Sims 3 — you’ll need to scroll down to the bottom of the list to see them.

temporary hiatus guys.

i’m moving to san diego, which is why i haven’t been posting (that and i’ve been getting shittons of mods :x). so i’ve been packing like crazy and doing all sorts of things because i’m moving THIS TUESDAY, which is crazy.
